Building and Grounds Director

Position Summary:

Salary: $48,187.70 - $62,645.27 per year (Salaried Position) In addition to a comprehensive benefit package.

Under the direction of the County Administrator, plans, schedules, assigns and supervises the work of maintenance and custodial staff engaged in cleaning, maintaining and repairing County buildings and properties. Oversees the building preventative maintenance program and ensures that all building equipment and mechanical systems are maintained in proper and safe working order. Oversees all grounds maintenance including snow removal, mowing, planting, and trimming. Oversees and monitors the work of outside contractors. Assists in receipt and distribution of supplies ordered for various departments.

Employment Qualifications:

  • Education: A high school diploma with advanced skills from a vocational or trade school in electrical, plumbing, HVAC and other related building trades.
  • Experience: Five years of progressively more responsible experience in maintaining buildings, grounds, related equipment and other facility manager responsibilities and related supervision.
  • Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, e.g., occupational health and safety, handling of hazardous materials, building and fire codes is desirable. Skills in basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical and masonry is required. A valid State of Michigan driver’s license is required.
