ReservesThe Sheriff’s Office has utilized the Reserve Unit for over fifty years. The unit is currently made up of 25 highly trained and dedicated men and women that are used to supplement the department’s personnel resources in all divisions. The voluntary members serve the Office in many different capacities. One of the primary functions is to support our Uniform Services Division while on patrol or when additional personnel are necessary to augment the department’s response to an event. Reserve Deputies provide traffic control and security for community events around the county, conduct liquor inspections, and work with youth programs to promote safety.

Each member of the unit receives specialized training prior to becoming a member of the Reserve Unit. Reserves have an expectation of minimum participation with the department. The Sheriff’s Office hires Reserves one time a year, if needed. Interested individuals can obtain an application here. Applicants must be 21 yrs of age, have a clear criminal history, and a good driving record.

If you have questions or would like further information regarding the Reserve Unit, please contact Capt. Jason Bingaman (269)467-9045.
