2007 Master Plan
The County Planning Commission adopted the St. Joseph County Master Plan 2007 Update on November 28, 2007. The document is an update to the 1997 County Master Plan and contains the first countywide Future Land Use Map, depicting the pattern of future land uses desired by local governments and the County Planning Commission. The County Planning Commission developed the Master Plan Update with input from representatives of every local government within the County. Further, public input was gathered during a number of public meetings held throughout the County during the spring of 2007.
The Master Plan Update is used by the County Planning Commission and Board of Commissioners as the guide for future land use and infrastructure investment decision making. It also establishes a commitment to the creation of new jobs and other economic development opportunities including agricultural production through farmland preservation.
