2007 Master Plan
The County Planning Commission adopted the St. Joseph County Master Plan 2007 Update on November 28, 2007. The document is an update to the 1997 County Master Plan and contains the first countywide Future Land Use Map, depicting the pattern of future land uses desired by local governments and the County Planning Commission. The County Planning Commission developed the Master Plan Update with input from representatives of every local government within the County. Further, public input was gathered during a number of public meetings held throughout the County during the spring of 2007.
The Master Plan Update is used by the County Planning Commission and Board of Commissioners as the guide for future land use and infrastructure investment decision making. It also establishes a commitment to the creation of new jobs and other economic development opportunities including agricultural production through farmland preservation.
The St. Joseph County Master Plan 2007 Update (PDF - 3.66 MB) is available for download as an 8½ x 11 PDF (portable document format). You can also download a seamless version of the Countywide Future Land Use Map in two different sizes: FLUM 8½x11 (PDF - 287 KB) or FLUM 11x17 (PDF - 1.45 MB).
Five background reports accompany the Master Plan Update and are incorporated by reference. They include the Socio-Economic Analysis (PDF - 107 KB), Master Plan Issues Report (PDF - 96 KB) , US-131 Alignment Workshop Report (PDF - 1.62 MB), Countywide Master Land Use Plan Workshop Resource Book (PDF - 8.64 MB), and the Farmland Preservation Workshop Report (PDF - 4.27 MB) (including St. Joseph County Agriculture: Past, Present and Future (PDF - 2.64 MB)).
