How to Apply for Employment Opportunities

Thank you for considering employment with St. Joseph County.  All candidates must submit a St. Joseph County Application for Employment to be considered for available employment opportunities.  Resumes and cover letters are encouraged, but will only be accepted with a completed employment application.  All applications must be received by the deadline date of the position.  Applications received after the deadline date will not be considered for the current opening, but will be kept on file for one year.  Individuals seeking employment with St. Joseph County are subject to an employment physical and drug test.

You may use the following methods to apply:

Please note: The initial and signature fields under the Agreement and Understanding and the Disclosure and Release section are not fillable. These fields must be filled out in your own hand. You may electronically submit the form via email without filling in these fields under the assumption that the fields be filled in at the time of interview or beginning of employment.

 
Applications for employment may be submitted in the following ways:

  • By Mail - Allow time for mail delivery
  • By Fax - (269) 467-5628
  • In Person - Applications may be hand delivered between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., EST, Monday through Friday.
 
Email Instructions
  1. Download the fillable PDF of the St. Joseph County Application for Employment.
  2. The initial and signature fields under the Agreement and Understanding and the Disclosure and Release section are not fillable. These fields must be filled out in your own hand. You may electronically submit the form via email without filling in these fields under the assumption that the fields be filled in at the time of interview or beginning of employment.
  3. After filling in the application, save it under the format "lastname_firstname_application.pdf". (Example: doe_john_application.pdf)
  4. Send the Application as an email attachment to the Human Resources email address: hr@stjosephcountymi.org. Replace the subject of the email with the title of the position you are applying for.
  5. You may also attach a resume to the email. Please use the naming convention lastname_firstname_resume for the resume file name. Resumes may be sent as a MS Word Document (.doc) or PDF file (.pdf).
  6. To ensure that your emailed Application is properly handled, the text of the email message should contain, at the minimum, the title of the position you are applying for and list all attachments that should be found with the email.
