| Central
Services provides a variety of support services to all
County departments. The functions of Central Services are managed under
the direction of the Human Resource Director. While all departments have their own
direct telephone numbers, the public can still use a main
number to receive general information or direction to
the appropriate department. That number is 269-467-5500
and is operational Monday thru Friday 8:00 a.m. –
5:00 p.m. |

The
Purchasing Division’s primary responsibility is
to procure goods and services for the departments of St.
Joseph County in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective
manner while complying with the federal, state and local
law as well as the policies of the Board of Commissioners.
The Division operates with the best interest of the tax
paying public in mind and is held to the highest professional
standard and ethics. The Board of Commissioners established
a list of 11 principles or code of professional ethics
and standards of conduct that governs the conduct of every
person responsible for procurement of materials or services
in St. Joseph County.
The Division encourages broad-based participation through
a fair and open competitive process. |

| Mail
Distribution |

| The
mail area of Central Services is responsible for the processing
of all outgoing mail for all County departments. The staff
determines the most cost effective and efficient means
selecting primarily between U.S. postal service or UPS
service. Interoffice mail is also managed through Central
Services. Most departments have their own post office
box and are responsible for picking up their incoming
mail daily at the post office. |

| Scheduling
of Meeting Rooms |

| The
County has a number of meeting rooms available for use
for County related business. Scheduling for use of the
meeting rooms is handled exclusively through Central Services. |

| Fixed
Asset Inventory |
 |
| |
| The
County maintains a fixed asset inventory of all property
and equipment. This inventory is maintained by the Central
Services staff. |

| Equipment
Repair and Maintenance |
 |
| |
| Repair
of most office equipment throughout the County is managed
through Central Services. Examples of such include copy
machines, recording equipment, typewriters, and furniture. |

| Motor
Pool |
 |
| |
| County
owned vehicles are available for staff to use when traveling
on County business. Central Services manages the scheduling
and maintenance of the vehicles. |
